Voorstelling
In his version of Hamlet, Jeroen Kriek concentrates on the exposure of social structures of the reigning caste at the royal Danish court as well as on the conflicts between generations. For Hamlet, the existential questions are at the core of what moves all young people: How does this world function and how do I find my way in it? His conclusion: it is inscrutable, governed by others and does not permit emotions. Hamlet is a stranger to the software of the system. He has no chance.
This is the SCHLACHTHOF theatre workshop’s second co-production with Jeroen Kriek and the Growing up in Public theatre factory from Utrecht – and surely not the last one!
